Motorola brings DEFY+ to SA shores

Motorola Mobility announced today the South African availability of the Motorola DEFY+ phone. Described as “faster, smarter and richer” compared to the original DEFY handset, the DEFY+ features a dust proof, water resistant and scratch resistant design thanks to Gorilla Glass protection.

The Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) device boasts a 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor that is claimed to be 25% faster that its predecessor. A PowerVR SGX530 GPU, 480 x 854 3.7″ capacitive touchscreen and 5MP camera are among the other features of the handset. It ships with 2GB of internal storage and a 2GB microSD card in the box. The microSD can be swapped out for 32GB of external storage.

The battery supports an approximate 7.1 hours of talk time and 16 days on standby. The Motorola DEFY+’s recommended retail price for South Africa is R2,900.

It seems a bit steep for something with those specs.

I thought it was quite a deal barring the storage, really decent screen on paper too.
