All the rumour and speculation in the world is no substitute for an Apple event and we finally know just when this year’s iPhone 7 reveal (if that is indeed what it’s going to be called) will be taking place. Apple has sent out media invites for the event, which will be taking place on 7 September.
That’s just a little over a week away and we’ll be on hand to let you know what is being said at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The iPhone 7 event will be kicking off at 10AM, American time, so we should have a late evening ahead of us here in South Africa next Wednesday.
The invitation itself isn’t giving much away but we can probably make a few guesses. The seeming-innocent “See you on the 7th” could refer to the iPhone 7’s camera, something that is backed by the coloured orbs in the background. Or we could just be grasping at straws.
We’re expecting at least two new iPhones, with a third iPhone 7 being a possibility. The biggest questions are going to be around the changes being made. The handsets are expected to look largely the same as their predecessors but dual-camera tech, a missing headphone jack, and the obvious general hardware improvement are all to be confirmed.
We might also see the appearance of a wholly-new Apple Watch, as well as an update to the existing model. New software, for phones, tablets and wristwear, are also pretty certain but new tablet and notebook hardware…? That’s a distinct maybe. Either way, we’ll be keeping an eye on Apple and you’ll be the first to know what the fruit company has in store for us in the coming weeks.
