Microsoft’s first Windows 10 smartphone, or smartphones as the case may be, are expected soon what with the release of Windows 10 for desktops just around the corner. So a few leaks and some speculation are in order and the newest info claims that Microsoft will be launching two Lumias, the 950 and 950 XL, at some point in the future. They’re not pictured above, however.
The info, via Chinese website IT Home, doesn’t feature a timeline for the devices but it does give out quite a few specs for the apparent handsets. And unlike Microsoft’s last few Lumia releases, these look like they could stand up to the current crop of high-end devices.
The Lumia 950 will reportedly contain a Snapdragon 808, the same processor that we’ve seen in LG’s G4, which will be powering a 2K 5.2-inch display. 3GB of RAM, a removable 3,000mAh battery and microSD support are also mentioned in relation to the handset, which is codenamed Talkman.
The handset is also supposed to feature a USB C-type charging port, a 20MP camera and a front-facing 5MP camera. If the report is correct, this is a Windows phone we couldn’t mind taking a decent crack at.
The Cityman-coded Lumia 950 XL is said to be much the same, though there’s apparently a 5.7-inch 2K display and a Snapdragon 810 processor slated for that device. It’ll also sport a slightly larger battery, at 3,300mAh.
Without official confirmation, there’s no way of knowing how much credence we can give this report. But we do so want it to be true, it’d be fantastic to see a Lumia slugging it out with the other smartphone heavyweights for a change.
