With rare exception, Apple’s iPhone and iPad annual revision cycle continues ahead as scheduled, but that may not apply to the Apple Watch: a new report claims we won’t see a sequel to mark its one-year anniversary. That’s according to Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac, who has a new report out claiming that a second-generation Apple Watch model is currently planned to release in spring instead, or about a year and a half after the original device released. A September announcement is planned, quite likely alongside the iPhone 7. But Apple won’t wait until then to offer fresh reasons to buy…

Garmin has announced the Quatix 3 – a version of its existing Fenix 3 fitness watch that’s aimed at water-loving gadgeteers. The watch itself features the same smarts as its regular brother, which include powerful GPS modules, an altimeter, barometer and 3-axis compass, but throws in extra water-centric features as well. It’s capable of receiving data from compatible marine sensors, letting you keep on top of things like temperature, depth, wind speed and more, when you’re out splashing away from a boat, and there’s remote control support for the company’s marine stereo and action camera too. There’s even a man…

Apple could very well reveal a smaller 4in iPhone alongside the iPhone 7. The existence of the mysterious iPhone 6C, as it’s been called, has been rumoured for quite some time now, and it’s just cropped up again in a leaked online video, showing off its smaller 4in display. The video itself was apparently shot from inside Apple’s Foxconn factory in China, and if genuine, is about as legitimate a source as you can get. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8la5yjlPcs It’s immediately obvious that the handset itself looks pretty much identical to the iPhone 6s which we’re all familiar with, although previous rumours do…

iOS 9.3 is kind of a big deal for an update. It’s not just about bug fixes and minor tweaks (though they’re always welcome) – it’s got some brand new features that are definitely worth waiting for. Don’t believe us? Read on for yourself to see what all the fuss is about NIGHT SHIFT This intriguingly-named feature uses your iThing’s geolocation and time settings to judge when it’s late enough to tone down the blue light in its display, while warming up the colour temperature to make it easier on your eyes. The end result is less strain on both…

The iPhone 6S is already a pretty zippy phone, but Apple could about to blow it out of the water with a super-charged successor. A tweet from jailbreaker @ktyofujibaya shows a mention of Li-Fi within the code for iOS 9.1, suggesting Apple is already hard at work adding support for the future-proof wireless tech – even though its current phones don’t have the hardware needed to get it working. That can only mean Apple is looking to add it to the iPhone 7, which is almost definitely going to launch in September. Li-Fi is essentially a faster version of Wi-Fi,…

The S-Pen is one of the most distinctive parts of Samsung’s Galaxy Note experience, letting you pop out the tiny stylus for quick scribbles – but with the Galaxy Note 5, some early users reported that the S-Pen was getting stuck in the slot. For good. Granted, it happened when the S-Pen was inserted backwards, but anyone might quickly pop it into the slot without thinking about orientation and be left with a less-functional phone. It even happened to us: our Singapore team’s reviewer suffered that fate with his review unit. And Samsung’s initial response was simply to tell people…

It’s a time of change for Square Enix’s Hitman franchise, which is making the move from a full, upfront release to a digital, semi-episodic approach. Rather, make that fully episodic, as the upcoming game just switched gears again. Instead of releasing a sizeable starter pack and then adding free content to it over time, Square Enix and developer IO Interactive will instead parcel out the stealth assassin game in small chunks throughout the year. Each piece of the experience will be separately priced, all adding up to what might have otherwise been a full, all-in-one campaign. The first chunk will…

Move over iPhone: Samsung is working on its own version of Live Photos for the Galaxy S7, and by all accounts it’s shaping up to be better than Apple’s version. It’s probably going to be called Vivid Photos, and could record higher quality clips than the iPhone 6S can manage by ditching audio recording. Each clip will record about 1.5s of video before and 1.5s after you press the shutter button, creating an animated image with a little more life than a still photo. The details are still sketchy right now, but increasing the frame rate beyond the 12fps Apple…
