We love Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, though we were less than enamoured by the cost of the handsets. And they have recently reported their Q2 2015 financial results. These two sentences are related.

While Samsung didn’t have their greatest ever quarter, reporting that their profits are down by 8% compared to this time last year, there was an interesting bit of info revealed for all of us as a result of their slipping profits.

Samsung aims to “…firmly maintain its sale of premium smartphones by flexibly adjusting the price of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, and launching a new model with a larger screen.” That sounds a lot like they’re planning on dropping the cost of their flagships, though it doesn’t give us any clues about where the drops will happen and how much the discount will be. It should be on its way regardless, as long as local carriers play ball.

You might have also noticed that Samsung will be launching that new bigger-screened model… Gee, we wonder what that will be? It should be the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and it should be making its appearance at the company’s 13 August event. Official confirmation is always nice, though.
