Google has acquired social media marketing startup Wildfire Interactive, with the intention of “creating new opportunities for its clients to engage with people across all social services” according to IDG News.
Wildfire was started four years ago and has a software platform that integrates with Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn. The company specialises in helping companies expand and control their presence in the social media sphere.
Wildfire apparently has some 16,000 clients at present, including 30 of the top 50 brands. Wildfire founders Victoria Ransom and Alain Chuard said in a blog post announcing the deal, “We believe that over time the combination of Wildfire and Google can lead to a better platform for managing all digital media marketing.”
In a blog post from Google, also announcing the acquisition, Google’s Jason Miller said “Businesses around the world–from neighborhood restaurants to major retailers–are embracing social media to share information and forge stronger relationships with their fans and customers.”
The terms of the deal between Google and Wildfire Interactive have not been made public.
