Drone 100 is the name of Intel’s world record attempt involving drones. A lot of drones. One hundred of them, in fact. The name’s a bit of a giveaway. The event happened in 15 November and those drones? They were controlled by a single person and at least some software.
The successful record attempt took place in Flugplatz Ahrenlohe, Tornesch, Germany to the accompaniment of a live rendition of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. The drones, in what looks to have been a nerve-wracking feat of flight, flew in formation and provided lighting for the performance.
The record has officially been recognised by the Guinness folks, for the most UAVs airborne simultaneously. And it managed to look gorgeous in the process. So that means that we can call drones art now, right? Right?
