Octa-core phones are the behemoths of the smartphone world and as such normally reside in the high-end spectrum of current and upcoming smartphones.
Not everyone can cover the price-tag of the latest smartphones, but that’s where Kazam comes in.
Kazam, a rather quiet smartphone manufacturer that has been around since November last year, unveiled two octa-core contenders in the smartphone wars at MWC 2014 – the Tornado 2 5.5 and the Tornado 2 5.0.
The Tornado 2 5.5 is, as one may assume from its name, the big brother of the group and sports a 1.7Ghz octa-core processor, 5.5-inch IPS touchscreen and a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front-facer.
The 2 5.0 has pretty much the same innards as its bigger brother, but has a smaller (5-inch) screen and weaker cameras, 8MP (rear) and 2MP (front). Both handsets still have to prove their worth in the market but there’s no denying that Kazam is being ambitious.
The phones will, disappointingly, be loaded with Android 4.2, so no KitKat for now. The Tornadoes hit European shelves in Q2 2014. Since this is a relatively new smartphone company, there’s no telling when it will make an appearance this side of the equator.
