Get your space-suit ready for another trip to space in Mass Effect: Andromeda, to (probably) save the universe from a massive threat to its continued existence. That’s about the size of things for Bioware’s space opera series, the latest instalment of which will see a new leading character taking the helm. So to speak.
Bioware has a new trailer for Andromeda detailing the first hints of the upcoming story, which manages to be exciting without giving too much away. There’s plenty of seriousness, alien technology and running away from explosions, which is what we’ve come to expect from Mass Effect missions, but nothing is really explained besides players seemingly taking on the role of the Pathfinder. Whatever that is.
The trailer is supposed to be cinematic but there’s a little disclaimer near the end. Unusually, this one points out that all footage is from the game engine and is actually representative of the final experience, which makes us more keen than ever to get together some Biotics and blasters and head out to save the universe. It all looks gorgeous.
Sadly, we have to wait. There’s a ‘Spring 2017’ launch date for Mass Effect: Andromeda on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which should translate to a September 2017 (roughly) launch date. Plenty of time to finish the game up ahead of the year-end deluge.
