Nokia’s board chairman Risto Siilasmaa, speaking for the first time in public on a Finnish talk show, has said that the company has got a “contingency plan” if the Windows 8 phone fails to impress.
Siilasmaa defended Nokia’s move to Windows Phone, saying that “Symbian’s market share has come down close to zero” following the decline of the OS since 2008. He went on to mention the company’s backup plan without elaborating on what might be but followed by saying that Nokia is “…confident that the product would be a success.”
On Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elopp, Siilasmaa said that “He came in at a tough time”, calling Elopp’s management style “good and transparent.”
