Hollywood often has some great concepts for technology but an intern at the Microsoft Applied Sciences Group has brought one of them to life.
This see-though gesture-based prototype computer functions using both a normal keyboard and some hand waving, along the lines of Minority Report or Tony Stark’s home computer from the Iron Man motion pictures. The see-through display is able to track a user’s hand movements behind the screen and captures these movements inside a 3D on-screen grid to allow interaction with a virtual desktop.
User head movements are also tracked so that the screen always displays from the user’s point of view. There are unfortunately no plans to mass-produce this prototype PC, many gadget fans would part with a limb to have one in their home.
