Samsung announces 5-inch Galaxy Grand

Samsung have announced via their website a new 5″ smartphone, dubbed the Galaxy Grand. The display for the device, which is larger than that of the Galaxy S III, seems to belie that title a little.

The Galaxy Grand’s 5″ 800 x 480 WVGA display doesn’t come close to the S III’s 4.8″ 1,280 x 720 HD Super AMOLED offering but the phone will arrive running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean at least.

Among the other specs known are 8 megapixel and 2 megapixel rear and front cameras, 8GB of internal storage with the option to expand it by 64GB via microSD and an as-yet unspecified 2GHz dual-core processor.

A dual-SIM version of the Galaxy Grand is expected to launch first, with a single SIM edition releasing at a later date. Samsung has not yet said when or where the Grand will see release.
