Samsung has filed a counterclaim against a suit that Apple brought against the Korean electronics company in February this year.
Samsung has alleged that Apple has infringed on eight of their patents, two of which are FRAND (fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory) patents that Samsung claims are essential to the mobile industry standards.
FOSS Patents, who broke the news of Samsung’s counterclaim, has a list of the eight patents that Samsung is claiming were infringed, including an “audio/video device having a volume control function for an external audio reproduction unit by using volume control buttons of a remote controller and volume control method therefor” which just about every Apple device has apparently violated.
There had previously been talk of an out-of-court settlement between the two companies but Samsung’s latest actions appear to have blown that out of the water.
