Samsung has apparently had a line of headphones in the works for some time and they’ve unveiled the products that will be going on sale in the States later on today. The product lineup, dubbed Level, consists of in-ear and over-ear headphones as well as Bluetooth speakers and the offerings are being compared to Beats devices, for obvious reasons.
The timing might seem a bit fishy though, seeing as how Apple recently bought up Beats but that’s competition for you. Engadget reports that the Level lineup was first heard of just prior to rumours of Apple’s purchase first hitting online so it may be that Samsung had a bit of an inside track or maybe just something waiting in the wings in case. Given the look of the headphones though, they’ve been planning this launch for quite some time.
Though the American launch is the only location confirmed, we’re reasonably certain that other locations, including South Africa, will be getting Samsung’s Level cans in-hand fairly soon. How can we be so sure in the absence of an official comment? Well, the headphones are all over the local Samsung website, for one, tucked away in the Others and Multimedia category (link).
It’s not official here yet so pricing and availability have to wait until Samsung realises they’ve been found out. Look out for a review as soon as we can get our hands on a pair of Levels.
