Samsung has officially confirmed a new handset in its Galaxy range and, unlike the Galaxy S III Mini, the previously-leaked Galaxy Premier lives little closer to the standard S III’s hardware specs. The bad news is that the handset has only been confirmed for the Ukrainian market so far.
The specs are out for the Galaxy Premier and they are enough to spark the hope that the handset will be available far more widely than in Eastern Europe, which is extremely likely. The Premier houses a dual-core 1.5 GHz TI OMAP 4470 CPU, 1GB of RAM and puts this to work on a 4.6″ Super AMOLED 720 x 1,289 display. 8 megapixel and 1.9 megapixel rear and front cameras are also a feature, along with Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and Android’s 4.1 operating system.
It has been priced in the Ukraine at 5,555 Ukrainian hryvnias, according to Engadget, which works out to around R5,900. Now all that is needed is wider confirmation of the phone’s availability. The Galaxy Premier will be launching in the Ukraine in November, hopefully this date will apply all over.
