With the Xperia Z4 Tablet heading to overseas shores at the end of May, many are wondering when Sony will unveil its smartphone sister. Until it does, we’ll just have to make do with leaks and rumours, and the latest set give us a glimpse at its potential specs.
Tech website GFX Bench has obtained the information, which says that the Z4 will come running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out the box, powere by a 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 810 processor with 2.8GB of RAM.
Interestingly, the site says that the Z4 will come with a 5.1in, full HD 1080p display. With the Z4 Tablet sporting a 2K resolution, and a recent leak purporting to be a 2K screen for the Z4, we can’t be sure which is more accurate.
Sony has told us before that it’s not interested in specs for the sake of specs, especially when sticking with a 1080p screen helps to squeeze out the Xperia series’ excellent battery life.
Other specs are expected to include 23GB of storage (presumably 32GB, before the operating system is taken into account), 19MP front- and 5MP rear-cameras, and the usual spate of sensors and accelerometers.
Battery information isn’t given, but we can only assume it’ll be just as good as, if not better than the Z3, especially if there’s a larger battery packed in.
If true, then the Z4 doesn’t appear to be too different to its Z3 predecessor, though it will be interesting to see if Sony mixes things up in the design department. Watch this space.
