Virtuix’s Omni omnidirection treadmill, intended for use with the Oculus Rift or a similar virtual reality gaming system, is now available for pre-order.
It wasn’t too long ago that the Omni’s creators took to Kickstarter, securing funding for the pricey PC gaming peripheral in a matter of hours. A short hop later and the gaming hardware is up for pre-order, with prices starting at $500 (R4,950) for a complete setup. Additional shoes, belts and the other extras which ensure that you don’t launch yourself into your computing setup will cost extra.
The other package available at the moment, the Duel, will set buyers back $1020 (R10,100) but that will net them two complete Omni setups.
The creators will ship to South Africa, though buyers will have to contend with customs themselves. Costs for shipping the rather large setup to South Africa is estimated at between $500 and $600.
