Samsung’s Unpacked event at Mobile World Congress this year will feature the reveal of the Galaxy S 5 and possibly a new Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Of course, this means that the rumour mill is spinning up regarding the company’s new flagship smartphone.
The newest round of speculation has pinned a few new attributes onto the Galaxy S 5, namely waterproof and dustproof properties according to source from South Korea. ZDNet Korea, citing “local sources” made the claim that the new device would be taking a page from Sony’s Xperia playbook in making their phones more hardy and they have also stated that the smartphone will feature a fingerprint scanner, a rumour that has been floating around for a while.
ET News, another South Korean news outlet, has reportedly made a similar claim, attributing the information to “industry sources”. It seems that the Galaxy S 5 will offer the same protection standards as Samsung’s Galaxy S 4 Active, thought its uncertain at this time whether we’ll be seeing another iteration of the Active or if Samsung will be beefing up their flagship smartphone with the feature.
